Path to Live

This section covers production-only concerns. Complete Starting a new component first to get your application running in a non-production environment, then come back here before going live.

Work through it in this order:

1. Productionise your application — get approved for production, prepare your production configuration, and understand what happens before, during and after a deployment.
2. Health probes — configure the readiness and liveness checks the platform uses to keep your application available.
3. Monitoring — make sure you can see what your application is doing in production.
4. Alerting — make sure the right people find out when something goes wrong.
5. Operational Acceptance Testing — check whether your release needs an OAT and how to prepare for one.
6. Shuttering — set up and test a shutter page for user-facing services.

There may be other business processes you need to go through, but they are out of scope of this section.
